6. Polishing Stainless Steel Appliances
Spray a small amount of WD-40 onto a microfiber cloth and gently wipe the surface of stainless steel appliances. This removes fingerprints, smudges, and minor stains while leaving behind a protective, water-repellent layer that helps resist future marks.
The lubricants and anti-corrosion agents in WD-40 restore shine and provide a thin film that discourages grime buildup without damaging the stainless steel finish.
- Avoid spraying WD-40 directly on electronic controls or buttons to prevent damage.
- Do not use on anodized aluminum surfaces, as it may degrade the finish.
7. Lubricating Squeaky Door Hinges
Apply a small amount of WD-40 directly to door hinges causing squeaking noises. After spraying, open and close the door several times to work the lubricant into the hinge mechanism. This will stop the squeaking and improve door operation.
WD-40 penetrates rust and corrosion in hinges and lubricates moving parts, reducing friction and noise.
- Avoid overapplication to prevent dripping onto floors or carpets.
- Not recommended for use on wooden door joints where moisture retention can damage wood.
8. Removing Crayon Marks from Walls
To remove crayon marks, spray WD-40 lightly onto a soft cloth and gently rub the affected wall area. The lubricant helps dissolve the wax without removing paint or damaging the wall’s finish.
This works because WD-40 breaks down the waxy crayon residue, allowing easy wiping without harsh scrubbing.
- Test on a small hidden section first to ensure paint is not affected.
- Do not use on wallpaper or delicate wall coverings.
