1. Facial exfoliation
To brighten dull or congested skin, create a gentle exfoliating paste by mixing about one tablespoon of baking soda with enough water to form a spreadable consistency. Apply the paste to your damp face using circular motions for about 30 seconds, avoiding the sensitive eye area. Rinse thoroughly with warm water and pat dry. Use this treatment once or twice weekly to avoid irritation.
Baking soda’s fine, mildly abrasive particles help remove dead skin cells without harsh chemicals, promoting a smoother, more radiant complexion. Unlike stronger scrubs, it’s less likely to cause redness when used properly.
Do not use on skin with active acne, open wounds, or eczema, as the alkaline nature can worsen irritation. Avoid sensitive areas and always patch test first.
2. Teeth whitening
For a natural teeth polish, dampen your toothbrush and dip it lightly into baking soda powder. Brush gently for two minutes, then rinse thoroughly. Do this no more than twice a week to prevent enamel wear.
Baking soda’s mild abrasiveness helps remove surface stains caused by coffee, tea, or smoking, providing a brighter smile without the harsh chemicals found in some whitening products.
Do not use baking soda as a daily toothpaste substitute or on sensitive teeth, as overuse can erode enamel. Avoid swallowing the powder.
