6. Hair Shine Rinse
For a clarifying hair rinse that may add shine, dissolve 5 to 8 uncoated aspirin tablets in one cup of warm water. After shampooing and rinsing your hair, pour this aspirin water over your scalp and hair as a final rinse. There’s no need to rinse again afterward.
This rinse may help remove product buildup and excess oils, allowing hair to reflect light better and appear shinier. It works similarly to salicylic acid shampoos that promote scalp health and clarity.
Avoid this rinse if you have a sensitive scalp, open sores, or allergies to aspirin. Use sparingly to prevent scalp dryness.
7. Gentle Exfoliation
To try a gentle face or body exfoliant, crush 2 to 3 uncoated aspirin tablets and mix with a small amount of water to create a grainy paste. Apply it with light circular motions to damp skin, then rinse off thoroughly with lukewarm water.
This exfoliation method uses aspirin’s acetylsalicylic acid to help loosen dead skin cells, similar to salicylic acid in commercial exfoliants. Users often report a smoother skin texture with occasional use.
Do not apply on sensitive, inflamed, or broken skin, and avoid overuse to prevent irritation or dryness. Always perform a patch test before full application.
8. Temporary Itch Relief
For temporary relief from minor skin itching not caused by open wounds or serious conditions, apply a paste made by dissolving 1 to 2 crushed uncoated aspirin tablets in a little water. Place the paste on the itchy area and leave on for 10 to 15 minutes before rinsing off.
The anti-inflammatory effects of acetylsalicylic acid may reduce itching sensation for a short period. This can be helpful for mild irritation from environmental factors.
Avoid applying to broken or severely irritated skin. If itching persists or worsens, discontinue use and seek professional advice.
