A nipple that suddenly turns inward (inverts), especially if this is a new development, can be an important sign of breast cancer. While some individuals naturally have inverted nipples, a change from outward to inward orientation should be evaluated.

Because these symptoms can resemble eczema or dermatitis, they may be initially treated with topical creams without improvement. If redness or scaling persists for more than two weeks, medical evaluation is essential.

8. Unusual nipple discharge

Any spontaneous nipple discharge that is not related to breastfeeding should be assessed by a healthcare professional. Discharge that is bloody or occurs from only one breast is particularly concerning.

Clear or colored discharge also requires evaluation to rule out underlying pathology.
